  1. Click on Start, All Programs, TaxWorks 2008, and select Support Tool (figure 1).

  3. Click on the Internet menu (figure 2).

Refer to figure 2 above for items a through l.

  1. Test Communications – Selecting this option will open the Test Communications screen where all the controls for testing the Internet menu are located (figure 3).

  3. TaxWorks Web Site – Selecting this option will open your Internet browser to www.taxworks.com.
  4. TaxWorks W3 site – Selecting this option will open your Internet browser to http://support.taxworks.com for a list of different patches and links.
  5. Official Adobe Website – Selecting this option will open your Internet browser to www.adobe.com.
  6. Install GoToMyPC – Selecting this option will begin the installation of GoToMyPC from the TaxWorks CD.
  7. Send Email to Support – Selecting this option will open the Microsoft email editor and insert the Support team's e-mail address.
  8. Download File from Account – This option will allow you to download a file from your account bin after you have uploaded it. Enter the file name and click OK (figure 4).

    • A box will appear indicating that the upload may take a few minutes. Click OK (figure 5).

    • The next screen will indicate that the file was downloaded successfully and where it saved to. If you want you can select Yes and change the location that the file is saved to (figure 6).

  10. Upload file to Account – This option allows you to upload a file to your account bin. Clicking here will open a screen that allows you to select a file to upload. You will need to highlight it and select Open (figure 7).

    • A box will appear indicating that the upload may take a few minutes Click OK (figure 8).

    • The next screen will indicate whether or not the file was sent (figure 9).

  12. Setup Proxy – This option will open the Connection Settings screen where settings can be set for a proxy server, which is usually used with a DSL Internet connection. Adjust the settings to ensure that there is a good connection. You can also select passive mode if you are experiencing problems with upgrades being blocked by firewalls. This is also where you can change the timeout amount and clean the online folder of temporary files (figure 10).

  14. Upload Custom Letters – This option will be used if TaxWorks Support requests that the custom letters settings be sent for our review. Because these features are user-specific, they need to be uploaded before TaxWorks can view the same information as our customers.
    • A box will appear, indicating that the custom letters have been sent (figure 11).

  15. Upload Invoice Settings – This option will be used if TaxWorks Support requests that the invoice settings be sent for our review. Because these features are user-specific, they need to be uploaded before TaxWorks can view the same information as our customers.

  16. Upload Distribution Sets – This option will be used if TaxWorks Support requests that the settings for distribution sets be sent for our review. Because these features are user-specific, they need to be uploaded before TaxWorks can view the same information as our customers.
