When importing Excel Spreadsheets into TaxWorks grids, it's important to remember that each column in the spreadsheet will import to the corresponding column on the grid.
- To import an existing excel spreadsheet into a TaxWorks grid, open up the return you are working on and open the grid you wish to import the spreadshet into. In this example we will be using the Schedule D grid (figure 1).

(figure 1)
- In the grid, click on the Tools menu and select "Import Excel Spreadsheet" or press Ctrl+I on the keyboard (figure 2).

(figure 2)
- Browse to the location where the spreadsheet (.xls file) is located (in this case My Documents), select the spreadsheet and then click "open" (figure 3).
Note: If you prepared the spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel 2007, you must save the file as an Excel 1997-2003 workbook (.xls) format in order to be able to import the spreadsheet.

(figure 3)
- After you click open, the spreadsheet will be imported into the grid (figure 4).
