After the initial installation, you will be able to upgrade the program either from later CD versions or from the Internet. During tax season, we recommend upgrading from the Internet every day for the latest version of each system. Automatic upgrades can also be set to download upgrades each day for your convenience.

1. Click on the Installations menu and select Upgrade Systems (figure 1).

2. The Upgrade Systems screen will appear. Any systems or states that have been previously installed will be listed. Tag the systems to upgrade and click Upgrade from Internet (figure 2).

3. A download window will appear, and display the progress of the upgrades download. When the download is complete, progress bars will display as the upgrades are patched, distributed and installed (figure 3).

4. If you don't have an Internet connection, you can upgrade from a CD. Put the TaxWorks CD in the computer drive, tag the systems to upgrade and click Upgrade from CD (figure 4).

5. Once the upgrade process is complete, you will be returned to the upgrade systems window. From here you can tag more systems to upgrade, or close this window. Closing the window will restart the program.

   Note: the program needs to be restarted whenever upgrades are installed. If the program is open while upgrades are being downloaded, it will need to be closed and then restarted to utilize the upgrades.

File Menu items

1. Check server – This option will download the version file from the upgrade server and checkmark each system that has upgrades available.

2. Export – This option is used to copy zip files containing the system upgrades to a removable device such as a flash drive.

3. Find my CD path – This option will check the local computer for the drive letter set for the CD path and enter the path required to upgraded from CD in the CD path box.

4. Exit – This will close the upgrade window and restart the program.
