If you have multiple preparers in your office, this is where you can input their information. This will make it possible for their specific information to be assigned to applicable returns.

1. Click on the Settings menu and select Preparers (figure 1).

2. When the Preparers Setup screen appears, enter the following information (figure 2):

   • Preparer Name
   • PTIN/SSN (Preparer Tax Identification Number/Social Security Number)
   • EFIN (Electronic Filing Identification Number)
   • Whether Self-Employed or not
   • CAF (Centralized Authorization File)
   • Designation
   • Jurisdiction
   • E-mail address
   • Phone number
   • Fax number

3. You may enter information for up to 200 preparers. The PTIN or SSN entered on the Preparers Setup screen will print on the bottom of the federal tax forms.
4. To designate the preparer for a return, enter the preparer number in the Preparer No. field which can be found on the General Information Input screen for the following systems: (figure 3 - 11).
1040 – The Preparer Number can be found about half way down the input screen under Type of Return and Referral.
