Setting up a return so that it can be e-filed requires a few simple steps:
- After you have completed the return and are ready to E-File it, go to the GI - General Info input screen (figure 1).

- Check the box to File Federal Return Electronically and enter in the Taxpayer PIN, Practitioner PIN, Signature Date, and any other desired information (figure 2).

- Now review the return and resolve any red EF Audits In the Audit Statement screen (figure 3).

- Once all the EF Audits are taken care of, you can click the Create E-File(s) button (figure 4).

- You will then receive a message stating whether the E-File was created (figure 5).

- Now click on the EF Ctr button from within TaxWorks (figure 6).

- You will then be taken to the EF Center Login screen. Enter your User Name and Password and click Log In (figure 7).

- Once you have signed in, you will see the Overview Screen. Select the 1041 system from the drop down box and click on In Send Clients to view the returns that are currently waiting to be submitted (figure 8).

- Tag the clients you would like to submit and click Send (figure 9).

- The Transmission Totals window will open showing how many Federal, State, and Bank items are being sent with this transmission (figure 10).

- A Transmission Report will then open up in a new tab or in a new window showing which returns were sent, along with some basic information for those returns (figure 11).

- Once you close the Transmission Report you will see that the returns you sent will no longer be on the Send Clients screen. Click the Overview button at the top to return to the Overview screen (figure 12).

- Once back on the Overview screen you will see that there will be returns At Filing Center. To view or delete any returns that you just sent, click on the At Filing Center link (figure 13).

- You will then be taken to the At Filing Center window where you will be able to see the returns that you just sent that are ready to be drained at the next IRS Srain Time (figure 14).
